    There are some who use a wall to do uchikomi. But don't do that. As a beginner that would spoil your judo.

    I think that if you're really that desperate to do some judo at home, get a beginner's general book and do some mental judo. At least learn the names of the gokyo techniques, don't go through the motions unless somebody experienced is watching you. That'll save you lots of pain later because in my experience, beginners struggle a lot with the vocabulary. It's absolutely no substitute for live training, but then again, neither is solo uchikomi.

    That weird , because my first teacher who was 8th Dan Kodokan and head technical intructor of the BJC had us doing exactly that. You have be shown how to do it right of course.
