    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Bulking up for Kyokushin

    I've started training in Kyokushin and found that being a twig is not good when sparring big guys. I'm trying to bulk up and am looking for advice. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 120lbs.

    Eat, Eat and eat some more, good quality foods with complex carbs and lots of protein. Then proceed to lift heavy objects.

    everybody here has pretty much got it, eat lots of food (high protein, i.e. meat. my favorite is steak), and balance with weightlifting. i believe low rep high weight builds bulkey muscle, high rep low weight builds lean muscle (anyone please correct me if im being dumb). i believe in keeping it balanced or else you will become a huge, slow, meat sheild. make sure to give your body recovery periods so you can rebuild all the muscles you've torn, and dont try and get all he-man. do what you can and have a spoter. last thing thats gonna get you big is sitting in a hospital bed.

    While one of the best ways to improve your Kyukushin skills is to simply do more Kyukushin, this does not apply to threads related to it.

    You're being dumb. Lean means the absence of fat. All muscle is not(fat). Therefore all muscle is lean. Bulky or not is simply an issue of size. The appearance of bulk can be influenced by the layer of fat on top of the muscle.

    High weight low reps will build strength.
    Low weight high reps can build bulk, endurance, probably other stuff, depending on protocol.
