The collar grip on the same side helps pull them off base and release the pressure on the hook. Those passes are good counters though to the rdlr.

    tao-

Typically I time it because I off balance him with the foot on the hip and the rdlr hook that push pull causes them to widen their base. Pulling the far leg and like shiny said elevating the one leg I have hooked.

If they do maintain a low base the situp knee tap and or low single reap work pretty well.

I think the name sounds awesome. The guy who showed it said " beijo do dragao" and our translator was like "...uhhh...Kiss of dragon?" It kinda just stuck.

Thanks - I like the knee tap and single reap options better, but I like options and flow that the dive-under provides. I see ankle and foot attacks, possibly transition to kneebar. I'll have to play with it. If you have any vid on that already created, I'd love to see it though.

No comment on Kiss of Dragon. I never say "lion killer" either.

Would you mind also going over the gripping hierarchy when you do? Like, when I start I grip this, then if they do this, I change and grip like this.

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah no problem. I'm filming a nogi version of the rdlr this weekend, I'll cover the gi grips too.

Help me understand why I would do this instead of the basic BJJ 101 sickle sweep? This isn't really a troll I have a good sickle sweep and often skip past the opportunity to use some of these positions.

Nothing wrong with having more options. Diving under can surprise your opponent, particularly if your go-to is always the same.

Plus, you end up in a different control position (not better necessarily).

I didn't get to play around with this yet - ended up on my back the last 2 sessions under a strong **** who outweighs me by 50 lbs. Hard to try new stuff while grappling a bear.

For me, the sickle sweep is too easy to scramble up from and creates the opportunity for my opponent to smash the hip-control leg to the floor.
