WTF? Is it my imagination or are these fraudulent claims of military service (let alone special operations duties) increasing in our community? Sure, it is not uncommon to come in contact with special operations during your military service, but that is not the same as serving in Special Forces, Rangers, SEALs, Force Recon, CAC, Operational Task Force - Delta or any other unconventional warfare unit. Bust them, burn them and make them rue the day they stole valor they had not earned.

The problem is face value. We take too much at face value instead of being skeptical. It seems that being skeptical gets you looked down upon. If this would have been in public and he would have made those claims to a group of people and one of them would have been skeptical, he would have just said something along the lines of "how dare you, I served my country" and the others in the group would have been like "yeah, how dare you"!

We do see a lot of fake military claims popping up, but that's probably because of several factors including the fact that we're at war and public sentiment for troops is at an all-time high.

I wonder how many Bullshidoka hucksters were claiming military credentials in the 70's.

As we have found out, in numerous investigations, a dd-214 is not the end all be all many think. There is strong proof it is one of the easiest documents used for fraud.

I believe it's a federal offense to fake or alter a DD-214. With the passage of the Stolen Valor act, the FBI is starting to crack down on phonies and prosecute. There was a case in So. Cal late last year of a fake Marine being prosecuted by the feds. These wannabes better watch out. They may find themselves arrested and in federal court.
