Informal rules

I'm just curious but what are the "informal rules" about fighting where you live? I've never really understood this. Even gangs and high-school children have rules when they fight hand-to-hand. It freaks me out.

Where I live, frat wars are kind of the norm and where most hand-to-hand fighting occur. Frat members are allowed to beat up anybody from a different frat except ones that have girlfriends. Ganging up on another person is generally frowned upon unless they were ganged up on first. Lots of silly rules like these exist. Where the **** did these rules come from?

Note:some frats even have a point system to keep track of their record which is wierd as ****, why put so much effort into this ****?

As far as I know, any and all rules for street fighting in all areas came from the 1979 Walter Hill classic "The Warriors"

I lived next door to the Kappa Alpha frat house, in Jacksonville, Al while I was at College. They got in some different troubles for fighting (one was a groupstomp, if I remember correctly).

I think the unspoken rules, keep things like vendettas, family feuds, and permanent injury, to a minimum. I guess it's become 'beat up, the way you'd want be beaten up, if you absolutely couldn't help it'. It also keeps charges to a minimum. No one likes jail, or magistrate hearings, or even being grilled by the cops.

Rule #1: all teams must wear uniforms.

Rule #2: If you can't look good in a leather vest with no shirt under it, then you have no business fighting anyway.

Rule #3: All Warriors must come out and play.
