Trenton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Trenton BJJ is a small school located on CFB Trenton. They are affilated with Team Ascension, under Omar Salvosa of Toronto.
Instruction: The head instructor, Jason Chin-Leung, is a certified BJJ instructor and holds a purple belt (3-stripes). He is a former affiliate instructor of Straight Blast Gym, under Matt Thornton. Jason travels to Brazil regularly, and has had the opportunity to receive personal instruction from Demian Maia, Ricardo Viera, Fabio Gurgel, Andre Galvao, and the Mendez Brothers. His vast and varied experience allows Jason to provide an excellent perspective to his students, and he is constantly striving to adjust his instruction to match the ever-evolving BJJ game.
Typical Class: the class generally starts with a long warmup/active stretching routine, for between 15 and 30 minutes. Students are then often given time to review the techniques of the previous class, before starting into the new techniques to be covered. Jason will demonstrate each technique several times, from several angles, and point out various important details to his students. They then break off to practice the technique with his supervision and feedback. The technique portion of the class generally lasts for an hour to 1:30, depending on what techniques are shown. The last 30 minutes of the class is generally dedicated to live drilling, working in the new techniques used in positional drills. Following these timed drilling rounds, students generally roll to submission for the last 10-15 minutes of class.
Facility: The gym and training facility are very small, as are the class sizes. The facility is located in a pair of old squash courts under the officer's mess at CFB Trenton. While not always ideal, this situation does allow for very one-on-one personalized training and supervision by the instructor. A second upside is that this facility is rent-free, meaning that savings are passed onto the students, allowed for extremely low monthly costs. Speaking of which...
Cost/Schedule: Classes are normally held 3 times per week, tuesday, thursday, and saturday. If one class is cancelled for any reason, a make-up class is generally held on wednesday. Fees as of the day this post was made are $30 per month for military members, and $35 per month for civilians. A discount applies to second and third members of the same famly who also train. A no questions asked one week free trial is also offered.

I've trained with Jason a few times when he visited Omar Salvosa's BJJ school in Scarborough, Ontario and interacted with him when he's been helping out at tournaments. He's got great enthusiasm about martial arts and grappling. I would totally recommend Jason if you are in the Trenton area.
Omar Salvosa is also under famed Marcus Vinicius de Macedo Soares, BJJ 7th dan. If you are in Toronto, Picking, Ajax, Markham or Scarborough for sure you should check out Omar's gym. Great vibes and instruction!
