So the person knows some Judo before they go into a Judo contest. There is no hurry for 30+ adults to compete, especially if they have no other MA or grappling/wrestling experience. It's asking for frustration and injury.

The same goes for anybody, really, even kids. But it's not a guideline that is followed very often.

Seoi nage vs Seoi otoshi would be perfect, also O goshi and Uki goshi

I went for o uchi. Massively underappreciated takedown.

It would be interesting if such an article could emphasize from a Judoka's point of view how to hit it without ending up "in between" (in guard), which people don't seem to care about (lax ippon rulings?).

I'll bet the options not being picked are because people are looking at some of the choices and thinking: "uh...what?"

Generally if you land in someone's guard it means they're flat on their back hence you've scored ippon and you don't need to worry about it. Obviously for different grappling rulesets like BJJ its different.

If I end up doing O uchi I'll put a bit in about.

I think even a judoka should have to worry about it. Putting them on their back shouldn't be enough. You should have to end in a position where you have dominance or be able to run away easily. Personally, I think that fits the spirit of Judo better the way it was intended at its inception. Think about it: you wouldn't call that Osaekomi from Newaza; why should it be ippon from standing?

LOL. Nothing, but you're a Judo black belt and I read a lot. There are those who can't even pronounce some of your choices. Then, there are the mooks who either can't do google fu to get an idea of what you're asking or think a double leg and guard flop will handle everything.

Yeah, Tom's right, 99% of the posters who don't train Judo have no idea what the Japanese Judo terms mean. Hell, the only reason I know most of them is because I've been popping over to Ohlenkamp's site for years to understand what you all are talking about.
