What would like to read next

So I'm looking to post some more material on the blog and of course to Bullshido.

I'm sitting on a few ideas, but as I'd really rather I was producing user driven content i.e producing stuff that you would want to read about, rather that what I want to write about.

That I would do a little public consultation exercise and see what you, the good folk of Bullshido, wanted to read about.

I have made a poll and you have 10 options to choose from.

    Fundamentals of Judo
    So something like this

    What’s the difference?
    One of these

    Technique breakdown
    Like this

    Musings
    Some ramblings along these lines

If you voted for a Technique breakdown, you have a choice of 5 techniques that I would feel capable of properly breaking down. So you can chose which one you would like most.

    O uchi gari
    Sasae tsurikomi ashi
    Ko soto gari
    Uchi mata
    Tai otoshi

Obviously if there's something I've not listed as an option and lots of people would like to see me do something on it then post it here.

If you'd just like me to shut up and go away, that's also an option.

It looks like the voting is shaping up to be ... anything you want to write about.
Calm down, it's only ones and zeros.

When presented, I always pick the comedy option. I'd have to imagine there are others who pick similarly.

Well I was thinking Uchi mata vs Hane goshi, Seoi nage vs Seoi otoshi. What would you like to see? What throws confuse you?

This hasn't got anything to do with the poll and it's quite specific so feel free to ignore it or jog it onto another thread another day but...

Do you hav any tips for competing in the uk?

I've recetly joined the BJA, and taking my first grade in a few days so am a full blown newb but my club competes a lot and Ive registered interest in competing as soon as possible. I have two interclub striking fights behind me but that's it, do you have any advice for a grappling/Judo virgin?

Naturally I'll be talking to my instructors about this but I like to take info wherever I can. Cheers.

Well my advice for late adult beginners, 30+ is that they don't rush into competing. I recommend a minimum of 12 months Judo before considering competing. If you're under 30 then 12 months experience is still ideal.

Good entry level comps for beginners are the red belt rumbles that are held in various places around the country.

Probably the closest and earliest red belt rumble to you is the NHC one in May:
    http://www.nhcjudo-events.co.uk/events/id2.html

Summer is usually 'off season' for Judo comps though and autumn, winter and spring tend to be 'on season'. So there's likely not an awful lot going this time of year.

Interclubs are a good first experience or internal club matches, if your club has them.
