Staying out of his/her reach. I suspect no such position exists or unscrupulous players would have exploited it for stalling.

If you do find this magic grip/position then let me know as my BJJ coach is also a 3rd Dan Judoka and from a standing start you just know the floor is about to imminently come up and meet you! Gravity wins.

Get used to it. It will encourage you in learning Breakfalls. Remember if it hurts you, consider what it will do to your opponent.

Especially on a pavement.
