BJJ in Olympics - Vote yes

Interested in seeing BJJ in the 2016 Olympics? There's a group petitioning the IOC to include BJJ in the games. It seems like a perfect time - the games are to be held in Rio De Janeiro and BJJ is one of the national sports of Brazil.

If you're interested, please sign the petition linked below:

(Or is this a bad idea? Will BJJ become Judo-fied if it's included in the Olympics?)

In all seriousness how would they differentiate it from Judo.

It would be like having separate Biathlon events for lever and bolt action rifles.

Would Olympic BJJ focus more on ground submission than throwing?

To be honest, I would like to see more MA's in the Olympics. I supported the WKF karate petition (even though it wasn't passed), and I'll support this one.

As for differentiate it from Judo, I would assume the same way they differentiate the many different versions of running/track events in the Olympics??? But then again, I'm not a Olympic committee member :)

After seeing what has become of Judo because of the Olympics, people seriously want BJJ in the Olympics too?

Look at boxing, look at judo... after what the Olympics has done to them do you really want the same thing to happen to BJJ?

Oh god no! Vote No! After what the IJF has done to Judo, you really want BJJ to be put through the same thing?!

Just because it happened to Judo doesn't mean it necessarily has to happen to BJJ. That being said, the odds are still pretty good that it will. But I would still like to see it at a high level. On the one hand, Judo has been suckified, but on the other, the Olympics does bring the best track athletes in the world, swimmers, etc. If there's a way...

Maybe Olympic BJJ matches can only end in death? Wait, that'd be Capoeira.

In my opinion this sounds like a better idea than adding another pure grappling style.

Don't they already have Olympic wrestling? and Judo? Why not just mix BJJ with the other 2 and make a super world grappling comp?

Seriously BJJ in the Olympics would be cool. But, I know nothing of the Olympics. What did the Olympics do to judo? Is that where the "no double leg" rule came from? The Olympics has enough other obscure non-televised sports involved why not throw in BJJ? They might even make a buck or to or gain ratings.
