MMA Fighter Doug Bolanes Killed in Framingham car crash 3/10/2011MMA Fighter Doug Bolanes Killed in Framingham car crash 3/10/2011
Doug Bolanes (22), was killed early yesterday morning, when his car crashed into a tree on Central Street, in Framingham, Ma, at approx. 4:15 a.m. Bolanes was a 2007 Framingham High graduate, having helped the wrestling team win two sectional titles. He was a captain on the football team, playing at wide receiver and defensive back.
Using wrestling as a base, he moved to Mixed Martial Arts, where he was 2-0, with both victories being KO's, and both coming inside the 1st round.
Here are his fights.
Here's one I found of him grappling.
Someone made him a tribute video.
more to come, as details emerge.

He seemed to be an outstanding local fighter on the rise. Its a shame and I with the best for his family and loved ones.

Oh man, I near and work in Framingham. This is awful, there's a lot of local talent (or at least good gyms, from what I hear) and it's a shame his career was cut so short. I wish his family and friends the best.
Oh, and nice find on the vids, bobby. Those were some epic KO's (especially the first one). I should really make more of an effort to get out and see some fights live.

Adam Quit replaces the late Doug Bolanes in mma fight.
Framingham firefighter and mma competitor Adam Quitt will fight tomorrow, in the place of Doug Bolanes. The CES event, is at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI.
The purse, which Quitt had decided to donate to the Bolanes family, will be put into a scholarship fund to sponsor potential MMA fighters unable to afford their own training.
Classic Entertainment & Sports promotor Pat Sullivan said:
"No one is ever going to take the place of Doug.....He was the first fighter signed by CES for a reason. Besides his ability in the cage, Doug was a special person. Adam stepping up and taking the challenge is more than just fighting. He will do Doug proud and represent Framingham well too."
