She didn't say what division she used to compete in, just that she took junior nationals twice. I'm assuming she won the judo stuff first (as a boy) and later in life realised she's a woman.
I agree on the where should they compete question.

I meant shouldn't. They should always compete as their birth genders, not their gender they "feel" they should be.
