I think this is Terry Brown's system, which is well-regarded in the WMA community. The "principles" refer to the set of combat tactics defined by George Silver in his treatises, The Paradoxes of Defence and Brief Instructions on my Paradoxes of Defence. It's been many years since I looked into them, but they're generally held to be a solid set of universal tactics. I believe that Terry's system applies Silver's principles to bare-knuckle pugilism and other historical English styles, as well as to the weapons they originally addressed.
