Any particular reason you chose Bikram? I looked into it and it gave me a lot of red flags with regards to the creator, his statements and litigous practices. Plus doesn't it get boring doing the same twenty some poses every class?
I'm just curious because I'm also in DC but have been steered to YogaDistrict with the quality of some of thier instructors and the reults from the practice. Is there something I'm missing out on in the Bikram style?
1. The Yoga Place I go to is > 1 mile from my house
2. The Hot Room really loosens you up
3. I can care less about the creator
4. I am/was very inflexibility so sticking with the same postures lets me see improvement.
I am not going to argue its the best yoga. I only being doing it for a couple of weeks. But I like the school I am going to.

I've been doing Prasara Yoga for a couple years now (I just started teaching it too) and its excellent for mobility and strength training. There is no spiritual stuff and its a fairly pragmatic training approach. You can find some examples on youtube pretty easily but there isn't any really free resources for it other than youtube that I can think of.

Simply, yes Yoga is great for everything! I don't focus much time on it and I'v only done one Yoga class. I would like to do it again though!

there is a dvd put out by a BJJ practitioner that is yoga for fighers, I'd look into that. It skips all the hippie love crap and gets to the meat and potatoes of what you are looking for.
