    Our orange belt syllabus only had ten or so throws but it was the first grading that included sparring, basically we had to demonstrate all the techniques for all the grades up to it and then do ten rounds of striking sparring, ten of stand-up grappling and ten of groundwork. Good times, and that continues right up to shodan.
    Ah, that sounds pretty cool. Way better than anything any karate club seems capable of offering, lol

    Who was the Australian?
    There are a few exceptionally good Australian jujutsu teachers and if it is one of them you should go out of your way to get there in my opinion.

    Ah yes, thanks. Looks like I was referring to the style of jujitsu taught by The Jitsu Foundation (I must have done a brief wikipedia search on them when I heard of the style). Apparantly founded by some Australian guy way back. The guy teaching here isn't Australian, it must have been a reference to its roots. I'm really enjoying my jujitsu at the moment, especially the sparring. Though for standup my wing chun keeps on creeping back in... to significant effect
