    Sparring Sets

Last year, no one competed in the sparring set event, which to me was a little heart-breaking since that's my favorite event to watch. So, in order to make it a bit more interesting and hopefully a little more enticing, we're allowing sparring set teams to have 2-6 people instead of 2-3 like we usually do. This change is also due to the fact that some of the members here at Cal Wushu are already choreographing a 5-man fight set. However, why just let them walk away with the gold in what is the coolest event in wushu? Make them work for it! And with the new team member cap, feel free to get creative. But as always, please be safe while doing this.
    This breaks my heart too.

Bear in mind that this is Wushu sparring- a choreographed event, not sparring as most people on Bullshido would define it. Still, I find it to be visually spectacular and quite entertaining

Yes and that is why the use of "fight" and "spar" in a choreographed set rubs people the wrong way.

It isn't just bullshido that defined it in this manner. I find them entertaining as well, but the definitions are always silly.

Sorry, I hadn't meant to imply that it was some eccentric definition cooked up by the folks around here. Rather, I wanted to make it clear that the people organizing this event were using the word in a way that is different from how most people reading the post would.

In short, I didn't want anyone to get his or her hopes up regarding the prospect of "sparring."

The only non-choreographed event, to the best of my knowledge, is the push hands.

This is literally the gayest tournament I've ever seen. Seriously I think I'm going to stop admitting I do CMA just because of this tournament.

This is the San Franciscan version of a real CMA tournament.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I have a feeling this is all a spectators sport. I am interested in what the push hands will look like, though. Will anyone videotape the event?
