Lots of people already did that (He did that too, he also broke a top of a bottle with knife hand strike). But beating a bull with bare hands just trumps all that (even if it was tampered with or fake).
Another Kyokushin guy fought a bear (willy williams, but it looked pretty weird & unconvincing). -

Easily enough settled:
Didn't rip him up and eat him when he attacked? Tame bear.
Did rip him up and eat him? Proper wild bear.
BTW, @ Hiro, Moenstah and Eddie. Many thanks. Out of Bullshido due to impending retirement from bouncerdom (and consequent switch to some not-so-martial MA), I nevertheless had to come back to see the reaction to Silva's win over Belfort. Had to, dammit. -

Nope, you're kind of right - in the sense that the injuries you get in MT are different in nature. From the very small insight I have into KKK, you do way less bag work, and way less kicks on knee height, which in itself already minimizes a certain kind of risk.
Because after two years of adding knees and low kicks to my Western Kickboxing base, I'm already having those Bas Rutten moments, where parts of my body hurt without logical or immediate reason. -

Do not fall in the trap of trying to fit actions done before a shift in thinking to what we think after that shift in thinking.
To us fighting a bull is awful cruelty to animals that I cannot condemn enough. But before the idea of animal rights got a hold, that was non-existent as an idea.
I doubt that Oyama would do that if he was young today, but back then it was VERY successful as a publicity stunt. People heard of it, saw it and was impressed.
You may argue how much it had to do with actual karate, but as a publicity stunt it was awesome -back in the early 50ies. Today? not so much. -
