Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. How can you quote an entire paragraph and still didn't answer his question.

Verify: Seagal has dan grades in judo and karate in addition to his aikido?

Content is all in thread title. In other news: it's been simply ages since since I've made pancakes and I'm listening to LvB's 3rd with the Berlin Philharmonic under v Karajan...

Note that this doesn't actually say whether or not Seagal earned a dan grade, just "belts" which frankly I interpret as non-dan grade. Google searches only come up with his 7th dan in aikido. I can't find any reference to any dan rank in karate or judo in the entire 5 minutes of searching that I have done.

I'd think that a man like Seagal would boast about any dan rankings he had, so I'm going to conclude that, while he may have studied karate and judo, I doubt he has a dan ranking in either.

I found one reference to dan ranks in Judo and Karate and they were both on Seagal's IMDb bio.

He also name-drops Fumio Demura. What a guy.

IMDB is about as bad as wiki at times with Bios.

If he has an American issued Judo dan rank it should be relatively easy to check just contact the relevant NGBs asking them if he's on their records. If its a Japanese issued dan rank that's going to be very hard to check unless you're a Japanese speaker, are aware of which prefecture would have issued the dan rank and are intimate with the Japanese Judo system.

The bit I saw referenced on IMDb said Seagal did all the karate and judo stuff in his childhood to early teens and specificially talked about America.

    I dunno.
