Best judo dojo in Cleveland Ohio

I'm in my 40's looking for a place to learn judo in the Cleveland area. I made the mistake of learning American kempo 20 years ago because I walked into the wrong dojo. The owners said, "we teach judo, but you need a foundation in kempo first." After one year, I never learned one Judo throw.
Twenty years later I want to learn Judo, but I don't want to make the same mistake.
    Thanks, Lance

There's an instructor named Ed Shutty. I visited him for a class when I was in town for a trade show. I'll look up the exact spelling and a web link.

Try the links in this thread over in JudoForum.com:

Let us know how it goes, and write a dojo review once you get a good feel for where ever you end up.

I'm glad that you found him. The link in the old thread was dead. Here's a new one. I hope that it's up to date.

Try out Chu to Bu as well. Paul Jordan at Chu to Bu west in Avon is great guy and one hell of a judo instructor. They also have an mma program. I train at Chu to Bu south in Brunswick with Joe Schmidt. Joe's one of the finest all around grapplers you'll find. He wrestled in college under Wade Schalles and competed internationally in judo, combat sambo, and sport sambo. Also, Chu to Bu east ,now maxout sports has a former Olympian from Armenia teaching their adult classes.

I'm one of the instructors at MaxOut Sports, and our club has a HEAVY Judo focus. We just moved from a location where we rented space 3 days a week from a small Karate center to our own, huge location in Bedford Heights.

Alex, Does Maxout- Sport follow the standard ranking of Kodokan Judo. Also, do they train for competition.

Lance, We do follow the ranking systems of Kodokan Judo. And yes, we do train for competition. We will train you as hard as you like.
