I can completely understand that :)

but I always thought if you pull a knife on a guy you are out to slot him.

Of course I learned about knife fighting techniques from the British Army tradition (from my Dad), which is about not leaving them alive. most of it was based on WE Fairbairn's teachings. If you don't know who WEF was look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_E._Fairbairn

This guy was one of the real old school fighters and trained a lot of the ww2 guys. When you read his history, its fucking amazing and makes most fighters today look like fairy floss. *600* documented non training fights. Knives, guns, unarmed this guy kicked ass.

I would recommend reading his books. Get Tough has some anatomically correct smart stuff with knife fighting etc. As one would expect from the co-developer of the Sykes-FAIRBAIRN Commando knife.

The incorrect bit being the drawing which does not translate well on to the internet? and the fact that he does not target the femoral artery in the book?
The picture's directions in that shot are bit dodgy but the numbers are correct if you know the anatromy (Gray's is the best)

You might want to check out this book:

    N. Mashiro's Black Medicine also casts a critical eye on the timetable.

The problem is it is very hard to prove that the super kill shot will make a person just drop.

Or that somone will not just drop dead from something deemed less leathal.

Knife fighting allways seems to be an, It makes sense in theory kind of thing.

    As just a quick example.

Witnesses described seeing the victim lying on the ground trying to hold on to his bag while the attackers - both black and believed to be in their 20s - punched, kicked and stabbed him six times. Detectives say the knife pierced his lung and heart and he was very lucky to have survived.

In the end, until its the real deal, the internet discussion is all theory, supposition and commentary on what has happened in the past.

But that guy was lucky that they did open heart surgery to save him!

Sorry not really my point. And i admit I did read more into your post than you may have ment but.

The Idea of killing somone with a knife. (For me anyway). Is to stop a serious threat as quickly as possible. Using a kill shot and have the guy die twenty minutes later might be bad arse but does not solve your imediate problem.

I did a flick though some news articles and struggled to find knife attacks that resulted in death from one well placed shot. They all seemed to be multiple frenzied stabbing.

I just dont think you have that much higer percentage of success.
