Anyone have personal experience with the Public Defender?

There is a lot of stuff on the web out there, positive and negative, and a great deal of it appears to be speculation. A lot of folks don't like the weapon based on it being a Taurus, some folks think the 410 bore is not an adequate self defense round, some people think they're are better tools for the job, and it looks like a lot of the negative criticism comes from folks with zero actual experience with the weapon.

I know MTripp was thinking of picking one up a while ago. I'm curious if he or anyone else either owns or has at least operated this weapon, and what their overall impression is of it.

My main question is, would you trust your life to the Public Defender, or does it live up to the negative hype?

Additionally, has anyone had any experience with the 410 self defense rounds that Federal and Winchester have started making?

No personal experience, but i understand that the 2.5" .410s are hard to come by.

Again, I'm looking for personal experience here, not speculation. I have no issues coming by the ammo for the weapon.

I have not gotten mine yet as I am unemployed and money is VERY tight.

That said, I WILL be getting one and I have NO problem trusting my life with it. I have never had a problem with a Taurus firearm. For the distances it was created for, I think it is perfect.

Several companies are creating special rounds especially for this weapon, and my advance research says.... wow.

I am NOT telling you what to do. I will simply say what I am going to do, and I am going to purchase this weapon ASAP.
