I can see how someone would read between the lines and get my real point that western medicine is garbage and we should use acupuncture to cure cancer.

The same way Tai Chi does! Nobody can TELL YOU but they KNOW it works!

Scientists are making the first steps to proving that acupuncture works and why! You all should be excited.

brandeissansoo: My point isn't about the fact that acupuncture works or doesn't work. I know nothing about acupuncture. My point is a doctor in Oregon says that they have taken "an exciting first step" in understanding acupuncture by studying it in Oregon. the logical thing to do would be study it in China where there are experts in the field seeing how they been doing it for centuries.

My point is not about acupuncture at all it's about the arogance of americans. It's just like Columbus "discovering" america. Or Magellan "discovering" the magellan straits. You can't take an exciting first step into a field that is centuries old!

When I saw the title of this thread, I had a vision of someone obliquely mentioning the fact that they once stuck their pin sewing and didn't like it, followed by a forum member called Acupuncture Does Work berating them for being a *****.

I have been telling my wife for ages that accupuncture works, sure she complains about the size of the needle being too big, but I just tell her to relax and let the chi flow :)

Does your wife know that you joke about her in these forums. You should be ashamed of your self. I never would do....Oh, crap, a couple of days ago I joked with you about buying my wifes melons. Never mind!:D

It is an exciting first step in understanding what exactly acupuncture does. And do you think that, for some reason there are no acupuncture experts in america, where they would be paid 10x as much for their services?

Repeat after me. TCM is not science.
They don't know what is going on when they stick you with needles. These people are trying to find out, and that IS the first step to understanding how this stuff works. They never claimed to invent acupuncture.
