His standup sucks.

Watch him fight Silva and try his lame standup and see how fast he gets owned. I've said it before: you mean to tell me NOBODY has shown this guy how to strike correctly? And whats more nobody has told him NOT to strike with a guy like Silva when Sak's striking is so far below Silva's?

Umm, no. He said his strategy in their last mach was to try to strike with him for 5 minutes or so and then go for the takedown when Silva started to get winded. Bad strategy, but he DID think it through.

If that was his strategy then his strategy sukked. He must have thought it through while he was piss drunk. He could have had a strategy to spin around humming for 5 minutes and it would have been more effective.

Hah, yeah. He should've come out with the same strategy he did in their second fight, it seemed to do him well. He had Silva on the ground where he wanted him and whatnot. I don't know why he deemed it necessary to come out with a new strategy.

I think his striking is better than he gets credit for. He stood up with little Nog and did pretty well. Little Nog's striking looked better than big Nog, even.

I know he's a warrior. His striking also sucks. Both can be true and in this case they are.

Yeah okay, I was in a pissy mood this morning.

But I think his striking is better than he gets credit for.
Against some great grapplers (ie the Gracies) he has quite happily stayed on his feet and beat the hell out of them.

Its only against top level MMA strikers, he isn't up to par.
