I'm up for doing some BJJ as it's something I've never done before however; I'll also bring with me a couple of sets of Kendo armour and kit so that if anyone wanted to spar with me and try kendo, it's available to them.

Did you never get a chance to check out Marcus Silva over in Hull, then? Wasn't sure if you were planning to, judging by the last time I remember it being mentioned.

Never mate unfortunately, being shipped out to the sandbox fucked up my plans. I would like to pay a visit but the problem is, I don't have the time to keep going back as it's a 80 mile round trip and I'm working the same distance (opposite direction) away from where I live.

Not sure if this is any better, in that case, but there are apparently two places in Lincoln now, the most legit one being Mark Hayes.
The other one is Dan Wait, but there have been doubts in regards to his credentials over at EFN and Cagewarriors.
There was also mention of somewhere in Grimsby too, in this thread. Not sure if the information is still current, but it says you can contact somebody called Neil (unless 'Niel' isn't a typo) on 07519561938. -

Cool - let me know how it goes. There is a bit of a hole in my BJJ map around Lincolnshire at the moment, so it would be good to fill it in. :icon_wink

Yeah sure, I may well give that guy in GY a ring this evening and put the initial feelers out. You'll have to excuse my ignorance here but I'm assuming that BJJ is mostly a ground game based system, is that correct or, does it include hand/foot striking as well ?

Yes, BJJ doesn't generally include strikes. You'll sometimes get shown a clinch defence against strikes or something like that, but it tends to be big haymakers, rather than what I'd view as 'proper' striking. Same as the compliant drilling you'd see at a TMA jujitsu school.

Fortunately rare, unless you're at the Gracie Academy. Having said that, the Gracie Combatives place in Bradford did apparently enter one of their guys into MMA a while ago, so that's a bit more promising.
Either way, the strength of BJJ is very, very much the grappling, because it has been pressure-tested through sparring. I'm sure you don't need this, but just in case, I've got a basic "what is BJJ" part to my FAQ, here. -
