    Korean Movie Stars of My Youth

    Well, how can we have a Korean Forum with out The Best Korean Kickers in Chinese/Korean Cinema?

    I hated kicking when I first started watching CMA movies. Any movie with excessive kicking I'd immediately turn off. Seriously, I still haven't watched all of "When Tae Kwon Do strikes."After years of watching "shapes" one day, I stumbled on to this movie at a crap-hole video store in the hood.

    Dragon Claws aka Five Pattern Dragon Claws:

    OMG the "Shapes" the "Shapes." In this movie you see, Dragon, Phoenix Eye, Tiger, Snake, Crane, Eagle Claw, Mantis, Buddha Fist, and weapons. Oh yeah and kicking. *blech* Plus, the movie is only an hour and twenty minutes long. Anyway, as I watched the movie we had the Temple, we had Monks and we had a Bad guy. This bad guy was alright nothing special.

    Then this scene occurred.

    I love one handed fighting no matter how unrealistic.

    SO, I took a little notice but still, Dragoon Lee was the ****. I was thoroughly enjoying the movie because, it had minimal plot and a ton of fights. I was content.

    Then, this fight occurred and I was done. Kicking had just jumped from my least favorite part in Movies to a close 2nd.

    Unfortunately, that is the beginning middle and end fight scenes. So, you'll have to rent the movie yourself. Funny thing about that clips is the guy cuts out his kicks, in that video.

    This was my first introduction to Hwang Jang Lee. Before you say it, no I didn't like Jackie Chan at first because, I saw three of his horrible movies back to back.

    He does his tripple front kick, the hook kick choke, and he kicked from angles I thought impossible and you can tell it was real. This is what always put him at the top of my kickers list.

    Then I stumbled across this tape about 9 years ago:

    After watching this tape, I knew he was a Martial Artists. He was always my favorite but, now I had a confirmed my respect for Hwang Jang Lee.

    Yes, I know the title should have Martial Arts cinema but oh well.

    That is definatly one of my favorite movie sceens. Whang In Sik is bad ass

    i have "the art of high impact kicking" which is supposed to be an instructional but is shot more like a bad kung fu flick.

    it has some awesome and totally ridiculous kicks in it though

    I love that video. Sorry some f them were ridiculous but, his kick mechanics were sound. Yes, I know everyone hates chambered kicks but, if used/set up correctly they can be devastating.

    Problem is it has been destroyed by point fighting.

    Anyway, yes I know there are other real Martial Artists. I'm just talking about ones that changed my ideas of kicking in movies.

    I know this clip has no korean martial artist in it but this movie is the reason why i got into martial arts and this fight sceen rocks.

    I'm partial to Tan Tao Leung. One time I saw this girl in my Wu Shu class (yes, I know, wu shu) doing some really amazing TKD kicks and she told me she studied under master Tam/Tan in L.A.. I was like damn, he can teach as well as kick. The ugy he is fighting, Tommy Lee, was a Hapkido BB as well-
