GNP for kids....yeah not sounding like a good idea at all for many reasons.

Normally I'm all for letting the kids beat on each other. But there is pretty much zero reason to be encouraging them to sit on each other and go to town on the cranium. Everything from increased concussion risk to it just being a stupid thing to let kids do.

Bit of a necro, but I'll answer the original question with a clear NO. And, I'm not a big fan of kids (which I define here as preteen) MMA at all. I think those years would be better spent practicing (and excelling!) at one of the arts that makes up MMA. Get your kid in wrestling, or BJJ or Judo or boxing or kickboxing/karate. Or even 2 of those things. Then when they hit High School or college age and they want to do MMA they will have an excellent base, not only in some fundamental skills, but as an experienced competitor.

Kids below the age of (I think) 12 shouldn't be able to gnp. This is because their bodies are still kind of sensitive, and once they get older, they'll be able to take that kind of pain.

You're not a parent, are you?

The risk is brain trauma, broken noses, etc.

Pain threshold has little to do with age. Pain is secondary and temporary.

Pain is watching a kid hurt due to stupidity on the part of another.

It said in the article that there was always lots of blood in the ground? Do they screen all those kids for HIV, and Hep C?

What kind of bloodthirsty morons allow kids to ground and pound. It's not even allowed in youth hockey.

Wait...now that I think of some of the Little League dads I know..yeah, some of them want their kids to bash other kids into a pulp (some sort of fulfillment fantasy I guess).
