News from Ruger on 2011 Releases!

I've been looking at getting a .308 Bolt Action rifle for quite a while now and this one is packing a lot of features I really like into a stock package. I can't wait to see one in person and hope it meets my expectations. Comes stock with a flash suppressor, iron sights, detachable box magazine, and scope mount rings in the box. According to their site, if you take off the flash suppressor the threads are already good to go for a suppressor if you choose to buy one. No need to put together a custom rifle for features like detachable magazines or barrel threading on this sucker!

For anybody that's been seriously looking at single column polymer 9mm subcompacts such as the Kahr PM9 or the Kel-Tec PF-9, this might be one to keep an eye on. Seems like it's going to be built on the same design platform as their LCP but a bit larger and chambered in 9mm with an 8rd box magazine. Since the world of super compact polymer 9mm carry pieces is still in it's infancy, it should be interesting to see how this stacks up against it's pre-existing competition.

Ah, good old Ruger. Making it affordable to buy American when it comes to firearms. I love my P97DC.

Not just affordable. IMHO they put out some of the best quality in the industry with some of their offerings.

Indeed! The only downside to the Box Magazine is that shooters won't be able to use FAL or M-14 Surplus Magazines.

I like everything about this except

The rifle's trigger guard and magazine well are formed with glass-reinforced nylon.

I think it's just personal preference, I prefer steel there as well. I guess that mkes you a fuddy duddy these days.

Being a fuddy duddy is a mark of good character in these times of “fuck it, no one's watching anyway”.

I held out on buying an arched mainspring housing for my 1911 until I could get one with a GI-style lanyard loop, and am still a bit disappointed that said loop turned out to be part of the casting, rather than pinned like the GI part.

By the way, this post was written by someone who took five years to figure out there's humor in a T-shirt which reads “Is anal retentive hyphenated?”
