Seriously though I think his point about outliers is really important. I wonder if the prevailing perspective on Bullshido isn't an outlier perspective. Can anyone and everyone really train high resistance high contact martial arts all the time? Maybe Krotty et al isn't bad its just for sheep.

I think that you are underestimating the role played by the shy yet beautiful shepherdess standing lonely, yet not lost, at the edge of the flock.

Remember, we don't care if people want to train XMA and slow motion Tai Chi all the time, so long as they aren't being told they are learning how to kill a hundred cracked out bodybuilders without breaking a sweat.
We know full contact MA isn't for everyone, it's whether what people are getting is what they THINK they are getting that we care about.

    Good rant.

Rhadi does MMA too. 2-0, from what I gather. Here's his second fight: YouTube - Rhadi Ferguson - GFC 8 fight video

Good point. I guess we/I sometimes lose sight of that.

To me, the prevailing perspective on Bullshido is a focus on realism and realistic expectations—practice whatever you want, but if you pass bullshit off as effective martial arts, prepare to be ridiculed.

But beyond that, I don’t think that “Bullshido approved” martial arts are beyond most people’s reach. I practice BJJ enthusiastically, and to put it mildly, I’m not anywhere near the toughest percentiles of the population. It’s not like a hobbyist practicing BJJ has to show the fortitude of a pro boxer (or indeed any boxer; I don’t have to sign up to get punched in the face).

This slowly becomes apparent but isn't readily seen when one first visits this site. Just input from a newb...
