BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

I hope you're being sarcastic. Carl Cestari (may he RIP) has forgotten more than you'll ever learn, & John Saylor would tear off your head & **** down your neck & not even break a sweat.
"Judo is a study of techniques with which you may kill if you wish to kill, injure if you wish to injure, subdue if you wish to subdue, and, when attacked, defend yourself" - Jigoro Kano (1889)
***Was this quote "taken out of context"?***
"The judoist has no time to allow himself a margin for error, especially in a situation upon which his or another person's very life depends...."

I think the effectiveness of the pin said it all (ignoring the weight difference, of course)

I feel that martial artists who train 'live' have a distorted view of street altercations because of the quality of our training partners. I have this guy in my gym that SMASHES my guard to the point where I sometimes think that my techniques wouldn't work on anyone. This guy just finished 2nd in the U.S. Open Heavyweight Blue Belt Division............
The same distortions I'm sure apply to throwing people on the street. As Ben said in an earlier post, throwing an untrained person becomes TRIVAL at a certain level of experience.
To sum it up: Anyone well versed in Judo will bounce street thugs on their heads.
