My apologies.
I thought that some kiddo had uploaded a shoot wrestling match without knowing the context, didn't occured to me that it was meant as a joke. (And that you just found it on youtube)
I should stop reading youtube comments because they are destroying my fate in humanity ;-)Last edited by Rene "Zendokan" Gysenbergs; 10/20/2010 9:13pm at .

in a nutshell:
Shoot Wrestling was the original name of the style. In the beginning it was entirely based on catch wrestling and no-gi Judo. Later on techniques from other arts were integrated into it, mostly from striking styles (Muay Thai, Boxing, Karate), so the style changed but not the name.
When the original Japanese wrestling federation split up into different federations, the stylist of each certain era of shoot wrestling sticked together to form a style.
- Shoot Wrestling (1): 'real' catch wrestling/submission wrestling
- Shoot Wrestling (2): submission wrestling with strikes
- Shooto: MMA type of fighting/style with a focus about bringing your opponent to the ground to finish him (Erik Paulson's CSW is the best known form of Shooto)
- Pancrase: see Bas Rutten
- Shoot Boxing: Muay Thai with hip and shoulder throws and wrestling takedowns, no groundfight. In the style of Sanda and Draka
- Shoot Fighting: American style, but I don't know what the focus on the fighting is.
You (almost) can't fight the Shoot Wrestling that is purely based on grappling (catch and no-gi Judo) anymore, which is a shame because it would make a good combination with Greco-Roman and Freestyle Wrestling as the third version of wrestling.
'Catch' has got nowadays a tainted reputation since it has become associated with pro-wrestling, so Shoot Wrestling would fill the gap without carrying this reputation with it.

@Holy Moment
Do you have other Shoot Wrestling vids in your collection?
I would love to see some more since it's another take on submission wrestling than grappling.
