Sorry forgot to mention my legs I do on my run by runnign up flights of stairs hills etc as well as doing box jumps and plyometric lunges I can remember what they are called and my friend is studying sports science 3rd year. cheers
Your friend sucks. Seriously. If that's your goal, that's a shitty routine.
Your job at this point is to learn how to do the major exercises properly -- squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press, etc. Get someone to teach you the olympic lifts/variants if you can (powerclean, power snatch and jerk are a good set to learn).
Stronglifts is a fine program. You'll make good gains if you do that.
yeah i did a sportsci degree too, its actually fairly useless now that i work as a PT.
so you want to increase your muscle size without increasing muscle size?
Yes its a fancy word for strength training its aim is to increase the size and strength of the muscle fiber not to pack on slabs of bodybuilders useless "muscle"
He's probably referring to the difference between myofibrilar and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
