Your friend sucks. Seriously. If that's your goal, that's a shitty routine.
Your job at this point is to learn how to do the major exercises properly -- squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press, etc. Get someone to teach you the olympic lifts/variants if you can (powerclean, power snatch and jerk are a good set to learn).
Stronglifts is a fine program. You'll make good gains if you do that. -

yeah i did a sportsci degree too, its actually fairly useless now that i work as a PT.
so you want to increase your muscle size without increasing muscle size?Yes its a fancy word for strength training its aim is to increase the size and strength of the muscle fiber not to pack on slabs of bodybuilders useless "muscle"
