What do you think was the biggest hurdle you overcame from blue to purple? Is there anything that you wish you had devoted to time and attention to earlier?
My top game has changed a lot. When I got my Blue, I felt way too comfortable on my back, so I wasn't basing out well enough, nor distributing my weight properly, which led to my being swept a lot. It also led me to hunt for subs too much, when I should have been working on sweeps.
Right now, my biggest problem is aggressiveness. Kurt keeps telling me I need to get mean. I tend to be a bit too reactive, and end up missing opportunities which I could have created if I had gone on the offensive a bit earlier.
That's one big half of my new goal. The other is working on my takedowns. I came to BJJ with no prior grappling experience. I've been cross-training Judo and Greco-Roman for some months, now, and I train Wrestling for MMA with the fight team, whenever possible.
