If it's "attempted" I'd go the other way, meaning all involved survived.

here's my thoughts that no one asked for or probably cares about

    1) in regards to the video: that **** is crazy

    2) I think if part of your plan in training martial arts is self defense, weapons have to come into play. Especially defending yourself against an armed opponent while you are unarmed, I'm not saying actively engaging somebody who is armed while you are unarmed, but defending your life. I also think once you have collected these "techniques", you should try them out in an alive, dynamic, free sparring setting.
Also you should realize that these techniques are for "hail mary's", last ditch effort, "**** just got real", situations and should be trained as such

    3) Also if you are armed you should train in the retention of your weapon of choice and know the local laws regarding self defense (armed and unarmed), the whole judged by twelve better than carried by six is great until you're tossing someone's salad

That is what I was inferring since you asked if the guy "survived".

Seems like it's always people in very safe positions that say this, ie somewhat affluent people in nice neighborhoods/rural areas who can afford lots of guns and who will probably never be in a position to test their theory. People who don't know anyone who's ever been to prison and can't see themselves ever actually going there for any reason.

It's very funny that I see this JUST as I'm about to do a knife-fighting weekend seminar.

I think knife fighting never really was meant to be shown to make you a better defensive fighter, but a more deadly killing machine. That's how I look at it. I laugh at most knife defense, unless there's another weapon in play.

I did it and its harder then you think, you sorta saw aswell.
The movement on the vid was one 'clean' move, it looked relatively shallow to me.
Then again im only used to animals.
you have a point here.. it is actually not that easy to slit a throat.. I have butchered bunnys etc.. I grew up on a farm.. A human probably have a more vulnerable throat.. but still you have to cut deep.. besides.. the artery is on the side. .. can you kill people by puncturing the wind pipe??
