    Future Judoka

Just wanted to say hello and mention that I'm about to start judo training at the Arkansas Judo club in Springdale, AR. Looking forward to getting thrown and choked out...

Cool. I'm sure people are looking forward to throwing and choking you as well. Let us know how it goes. And welcome to Bullshido.

    Sammer,

Welcome to judo and the site.

Be sure and wash your gi. If not washed, hung up to dry.

Nobody wants to roll with "that guy".

Thanks, I've been wanting to get into it for some time now, but just haven't found the time. I'm kind of an old fart though. Just recently turned 40, and I hope I'm not starting too late. At some point in time, I would like to partake in some of the local and regional amateur tournaments. I'll let you know how things go and thanks for the advice.

Don't worry about it. I had a guy that came in one night that was like in his 70s he was the Sr. World champ at the time, unfortunately I just can not recall his name. At any rate he tossed us young guys around with out too much trouble. On top of all that when I was talking to him he said he started Judo in his 40s.

At 50, the issue is having people at my weight, age group and relative experience.

    Meaning:

Going up in weight, down in age and getting my ass wiped regularly over the mats.

    Still, highly recommended fun.

Now get you ass out and get some.
