    Hell yeah! Hell no!
Well it turns out I have a "That Guy" story, although it's fairly dated so I haven't really thought about it in many years.

Back in high school a member of the crowd I hung out with was a TKD black belt. He'd won some tournaments in Canada(and one in the US I think) and was obviously skilled at his chosen MA. Problem was he thought his BB gave him a free license to run his mouth so he could remind everyone not to mess with him. Being a couple of years older I mostly ignored it until he decided to zero in on me. I guess I was the de facto "Alpha Male" of our group, being the most extroverted and least intimidated by the local muscle head crowd, so maybe he thought by taking me down he'd be "The Man" of our modest circle. Why he felt the need to be the big shot in a collection of geeks is beyond me but whatever.

For the most part I ignored him. I didn't feel like wasting my time on someone who was obviously just trying to get a rise out of me so he could flaunt his skills in front of everyone, but then I had one of those days. Things just sucked one morning and by lunch I was in a sour mood. I was playing cards with my freinds at the end of a hall when TKD guy started up again, leaning against the corner flapping his gums away at me. After a few minutes I finally had enough and told him to shut the hell up, to which he responded with the typical "You know I could kick your ass, right?" line.

That was enough for me so I stood up, got right in his face and said "OK, do it". You could actually see the second his mind went "Oh ****" when he realized he had litterally backed himself into a corner against a person who was perfectly willing to throw down with him outside the nice cozy rules of a point sparring match. He looked away at the ground and didn't say anything so I let him sweat for a few seconds then went back to my card game.

I didn't have any more run ins with him after that but I imagine he kept pulling that same crap after I graduated.

    This ^^^
reminds me of a guy from my college days. . .

Y'know, some "that guy" people are really
obnoxious little pricks. But, some are pretty
    funny, if:
    1. they are your friend
    2. they aren't hurting anyone
    3. they don't take themselves too seriously
    4. they harass everyone EXCEPT you

This particular "that guy" was a 2nd BB in TKD,
who's dad was also a military H2H instructor.
He learned how to fight out of necessity, having
mixed parentage, and in fact loved to fight.

He used to do stuff like kick pencils off of your
ear, while facing you discussing some bs thing.
He would tornado-kick the hallway lights in the
dorm, then land on whoever was closest. He
would back-flip/bicycle-kick a ball cap off your
head, then laugh and walk away.

All of this was done without any warning, and in
95% of all cases, just to his 'friends.'

I'd seen him around school, but met him because
I saw him take on a bunch of HS jocks who were
picking on two nerds and their g/f's at the mall.

He laid out four of them, and the rest ran to call
security. Between the nerds, and my crew sticking
up for him, the mall security tossed the jocks, and
the next day in school he started hanging with us.

Yeah, he was a prick. But, he was our prick, and he
    was hilarious!

If my "that guy" had been like yours I would have had no problem with him, hell I probably would have been his best friend. This guy on the other hand felt the need to talk down to everyone and stick up for no one.

We have a "that guy" at my Judo club.

He is terribly out of shape, and often shows up to class in an unwashed (and therefore pretty disgustingly smelly) karate gi. To top if off he tells everyone that his nickname is "tapout". I have yet to hear anyone but him call him said nickname. He also likes to show up half an hour into class to avoid warmups and spends more time walking around the mats watching other people work than he does actually doing Judo.

He is nice enough (and I think perhaps mentally handicapped in some way) but is always going 100%. During ne-waza he rolls like he is competing for the UFC hobbitweight belt. I am not particularly good, but I have little trouble sweeping and submitting him, since he is always flailing around and trying to submit people from inside their guard. Then, when you get a choke on him, he starts to correct your technique as he slowly turns blue and loses the ability speak coherently.

I usually just roll as calmly as possible with him and sub him as many ways as I can manage.

We had one brown belt who showed up having forgotten his belt and put on a white belt. He then proceeded to roll with me as aggressively as possible (I didn't realize he was a brown belt at this point). He was going for all sorts of techniques that would be illegal in Judo - though a lot of the guys in my club cross train and compete in other grappling tournaments too, so whatever. When he started berating me for being tired (I was... cuz he was my 5th roll of the night and I am out of shape thanks to 6 months off) and dropping elbows into my solar plexus I got slightly annoyed. Seemed kind of "that guy" but it might have just been his bizarre way of welcoming me... since I am still new.
