Growing a beard thanks to Staph. Aureus

Hello,

Wierd title isn't it, but I got this monday diagnosed with a staph-infection under my chin.

Sunday morning I discovered a zit, it is to say that it looked like a mosquito bite, but hurted like a zit coming true. So I thought that it was a spider bite and didn't really took notice to it. There are no poisoness for human spiders indigenes to Belgium and a bite of a common house spider is like a mosquito bite.

Unfortunally Sunday evening the "zit" popped open and became a small wound where a scab came over, it wasn't a pretty scab, but still a scab. So I thought that it came because of it being a spider bite (little did I know that under the scab there was a boil.

By monday evening the red area around the scab had grown and I started to worry, so I planned to go to the doctor on tuesday.

Tuesday morning the scab came of and I saw a small carbuncle (the original boil and two 'new' infected places) and I rushed to my doctor.

The diagnose was the treatable Staph Aureus....

So I got a bottle of disinfection lotion, an anti-bacterial cream and an anti-fungus cream.
The treatment is:
- 4 days 2x day clean it with the disinfection lotion + add the anti-bac cream
- 4 days 1x day disinfect/anti-bac + 1x day disinfect/anti-fungus

The anti-fungus is to prevent that the skin would get infected by fungus when all the bacteria are dead by the treatment against S. Aureus.
(the skinflora is just a marvellous world [/sarcasme]).

I've got it from rolling on dirty mats (not to worry, the EuroMega is at another place and I should be healed by that time).

What I want to know from other Bullies that have had staph-infections before (it's my first time):
- is the treatment that my doctor gave me enough?
- will it heal up good...since it is in my face and I'm already not the most handsome guy, so extra scars are not wanted.

Oh yeah, about the beard...I had a one week beard when I was diagnosed and the doctor said not to shave upto a week after I was cured to prevent the outbreak of it in other places on my face.
Three weeks not shaving will make me look like the fourth member of ZZ Top.

When I've had staph I apply the cream like 6-8 times a day. I had a doctor tell me that 90% of the time you can't OD on a topical so I go nuts with it.

Smart move getting it checked out quickly. That's exactly how it happened with me except it started showing up in other spots before I finally went to the Dr.

I'd say just follow the directions of your doctor, not a bunch of yahoos on a website. Keep an eye on it and if it still seems to get worse, go back.

I was planning on following the directions of my doctor, but maybe cleaning the wound 3 times a day instead of two.
Two seems so little with this type of stuff, but on the other hand I don't want to wipe the effects of the cream away with the disinfection lotion.

So I think that I'll use the disinfection lotions twice a day in combination with the anti-bac cream and inbetween clean the wound once to replace the old anti-bac cream with new one but without using the disinfection lotion...or am I going just bonkers?

Did it leave any scars? I'm not planning on keeping the beard.

The only scar I have is on my arm from where my doctor cut out a sample with a scalpel. Don't worry, we'll still think you're pretty.

Oh yeah, everytime!

The problem is that the mats aren't cleaned regulary. It isn't our club building but that of a joint venture of the city and some private investors.
I've send a letter to the responsible for cleaning the place...they have a choice now, either they get their **** together and those mats shine or I'm pressing charges against them with cityhall.

It's the second worse beard ever.
If I shave I'll get infections everywhere in my face and I consider a beard completely made up out of boils and carbuncles the worst beard ever.

Hopefully in two weeks I'm again cleanshaved.
