    Of all the... ugghhh.

    Judo doesn't need music and electronics to create this "sound of struggle". It already has one, which mostly involves bodies hitting the mat and the occasional groans of pain.

    The translated article makes it clear that the sounds made by the judokas themselves are a major part of the performance. Personally, I'd like to see randori as well as formal kata in this context but they may have been stymied by technical problems re. the wireless microphones attached to their bodies being displaced or damaged during randori.

    Similarly, in the first Kali Tudo DVD by the Dog Brothers, the instructor (Marc Denny) had his demonstration dummy guy take him down, and he landed on his mic hardware and messing up his back so that most of it is demonstrated with other people. Recording people when they're throwing each other around is problematic.
