    Realigning broken nose

Several years ago, I broke my nose in an MMA fight. Since then, it's been somewhat crooked. Given that my nose is absolutely massive, this is more noticeable than I'd like.
I'm vaguely aware that you can pay a doctor to punch you in the face and reset a broken nose without full-blown facial surgery, but I have no idea how to go about this. Should I look up a general physician? Are there face-punching specialists I should go to?

What I think you are looking for is a plastic surgeon specializing in various types of facial reconstruction. My mother happens top be a doctor. I'll ask her if she know of anyone in your area.

Edit: I asked her. Her answer is that you should start by trying to find someone specializing in plastic surgery at the University of Michigan medical school. Try to find one of the doctors that actually teaches the procedure, not a resident if you really want the job done right.

i think there's some new method that involves using a "balloon" that is inserted into one side of your deviated septum, and it is inflated super quickly, re breaking your nose, and setting it straight.

i'm thinking about having it done to my broken schnoz, but with my luck i would break it right away in judo.

I got my nose broken the first time in a soccer game.

Then, my coach broke it in the opposite direction while doing randori in judo.

    Now it's mostly straight !

If you have a primary care doc, see him or her first and get a referral.

Having seen some of your pictures - may I suggest discussing some additional upgrades with the surgeon while you're at it? You know what they say.....buy once, cry once.

Now I'll give a more serious (boring) answer to keep jnp from bitching at me like my Mom.

Please see a properly licensed MD. I am not qualified to give medical advice. Begin with a visit to your regular doctor. He'll likely refer you to a specialist. You'll be good to go in no time! Good luck! I'm sure your self employed health insurance plan, which you wisely purchased will cover it with no problem.

I'm insured through Blue Cross Blue Shield, and it's yet unclear whether they cover it.
My aunt is an anesthesiologist at the UM hospital, and she said she can hook me up with a surgeon to give me more advice.
I realize you're just being a bitchy queen again, but if it does require rhinoplasty, I probably will get some other work done as well.

Damn, I almost feel bad now. Almost. If I had known you were legitimately tortured by your Halloween mask-like face to the point that you're looking forward to the day when you can have it rebuilt like the engine of a beat up '69 Camaro, I wouldn't have made a joke at your expense. That would just be poor form, like laughing in a retarded kid's face about how dumb he is.

    Serious, boring response:

I'm very glad you're properly insured. Perhaps when you determine the scope of your plastic surgery wish list, the insurance company can give you an accurate assessment of the covered portion. I hope your meeting with the surgeon goes well.
