The Iron by Henry Rollins - Monday Motivation
The best thing about weight training is that it's objective: either you can lift two hundred pounds, or you can't. As fighters, martial artists, athletes, and hell... human beings in general, we should seek out objective standards to compare ourselves against.
Any efforts towards self improvement aren't really sincere if they don't involve a measuring stick of some kind.
I've got a six pack and nothing to do....
Henry is just reiterating an ancient Cimmerian belief system.

You know......the riddle of steel?
I'd agree with the possible exception that sometimes when artistic expression is involved the goals can involve an ideal that can never be attained. Feeling a creativity milestone in some way could be destructive to productivity.
