A 7th movie, no more stupid additions/editions, no more edits, and the originals cleaned up for Blu-Ray at some point? Hell, yes. I don't care if they run it into the ground I cannot wait. No, I saw John Carter, violence WILL NOT be an issue.

The cash and stock deal is valued at about $4.05 billion, Disney said. Lucasfilm is solely owned by George Lucas.

The six "Star Wars" feature films have earned a total of $4.4 billion at the box office alone and offer "a sustainable source of high quality, branded content with global appeal," according to the Disney news release.

Disney is buying the Star Wars franchise for the same amount that all 6 Star Wars movies together made?!? That seems pretty optimistic. I'm wondering what the Star Wars merchandise makes compared to the movie revenue.

I'm sure the bean-counters will be able to calculate that down to the dime. Overall, this is a match made in Hollywood. As IIF posted, they will clean up the crap, Blu-Ray everything, and re-release it. Therein lies the profit.

The Lost ARc movies.
DVD sales.
TV Shows

Yes.

Many old school Fans, like me, want Blu-Rays of the ORIGINAL cut movies. Lucas has been a bitch and refuses to clean them up or release them that way on Blu-Ray.

$1 Billion, for shitty new movies, says you are wrong. The recent 3D re-release is their first real failure.

New movies, with Lucas as a creative consultant *snicker,* will lure the jaded back into the theater.

While taking creative control out of George's hands could be the best thing to happen to Star Wars since return of The Jedi, I wouldn't hold my breath in terms of Disney making any logical, artistically meritus or positive choices in terms of what the fan base would actually like to see happen.

From personal experience I can guarantee to you that Disney Worldwide executives and George Lucas both live in the same bizzare bubble where racism, goofy tangents and a total disrespect for any given products legacy and fans are a-ok as long as there's a product tie in somewhere...

These guys make a carreer out of losing more money turning promissing film properties into **** than you can possibly believe. We're talking hundreds of millions, possibly billions in wasted assets, **** canned projects and company closures. They say they want to reverse that trend in public, but their actions tell a different story.
