    Hell yeah! Hell no!

80 year old cuffed for tearing down Obama is Hitler posters.

I'm not quite sure the LaRouche movement's full scope of national operations, so you may not know about them. They are active in Boston. One of their more endearing actions is to go around with Obama w/ Hitler mustache posters (they did the same with Bush jr.).

They emphasize a physical economy (vs. a speculative one) and returning to the gold standard...and from there they go crazypants. Everything in Lyndon LaRouche's worldview, boils down to the British Empire vs. the US of A.

80 year old Nancy Lack of Connecticut saw some, and ripped them down. A worker with LaRouchePAC followed her, and she ended up being arrested. She is now charged with 6th degree Larceny, and breach-of-peace.

"My generation went through the Second World War, and Nazism is about the worst there can be," Lack told NBC Connecticut. "I just got very angry that they would do that to Obama’s image.
Freedom of speech vs. old lady.

I've seen them downtown with the Obama Hitler posters only twice. When Bush was in office, they literally xmas carol style sang anti Bush songs, and were extremely active. Less so now.

I've had a dozen or more in-depth conversations with some of their followers, and generally they appear well informed, unless you yourself are well informed. Too much wide eyes (like the Sci3ntologists) and trying to school everyone. I've read a great deal of their literature, and it's a mixed bag. You have to be willing to search laterally to fact check them, or it's a giant mindfuck.

The lady said she knew she could get in trouble but did it anyway, as she felt it was offensive. I agree that slinging Hitler is offensive, even in this political climate.

Anyway, thoughts anyone, on the case, or the LaRouchies? I'd be shocked if she got anything, if it's even somehow not dropped.

I still don't get it. How is tearing down posters illegal?

To shed light on my confusion, it is illegal by many council by laws to put posters up. Are they official political party posters and therefore protected under some sort of legislation?

To put in context 6th degree Larceny is about the equivalent of shop lifting.

In germany (and middle-europe in general), the LaRouche movement consists of a few hundred people who engage in antisemitism (jewish conspiracy ruling the world), economic nationalism, the occasional holocaust-denial and the making of campaign-videos which are full of spelling-errors (german speaking people may look here for one, http://www.clipfish.de/video/926449/...e-wahlwerbung/ , satirized by comedian Oliver Kalkofe).

So it seems quite ironic that they post Obama-Hitler-Posters.

BTW.: arenīt the posters themselves a breach-of-peace, or at least violating the rights of Mr. Obama?

Nope when we say freedom of speech over here we mean it. While we do have laws about Slander, Defamation and Libel in general are given huge leeway when it comes to political figures.

America is pretty weird. I live here and I never knew that doing something to posters was against the law. If you purposely put random crap out in the public, people should be able to do what they want with it (unless it was indeed some kind of official protected poster location that you had to pay for or something like that)
