    How do you carry?

    How do you carry?

I have a Beretta 9mm PX4 Storm (full size). I carry IWB in the front. I prefer in the front because I think it is easier to pull from there. I also feel that I have better control of how close others get to it. I generally have to have it pointed down at my junk or at least at the crease of my leg so I can still move around without jamming it into me. Since it is pointing at my junk I don't keep a bullet in the chamber. I'm counting on being aware of my surroundings and situation enough to have time to chamber a round when(if) I pull it.

I feel comfortable with how I carry but I wonder if there is a better way.

This is a faulty and dangerous assumption, in my opinion. A proper holster with a round in the chamber is the only way to go. Where you carry is of secondary importance.

IWB 3-4:30. I mean 7:30-9 since I'm left handed. I've never, ever, even remotely found it comfortable or even concealable to carry anywhere in the front. Plus, I've seen way too many (two direct observation, one hearsay) accidents at the range from drawing to never ever have the weapon pointed at yourself while holstered, especially at the vitals. These guys were all experienced shooters and guys who carry.

Basically, there is definitely a better way. Almost every other way since you are unwilling to have a gun loaded and pointed at yourself at the same time. Get another gun if the PX4 is too big for more standard carry methods.

    Know how to prevent this?

A good holster, and learning to not have your damn finger in the trigger!

Guarantee everyone who shot themselves didn't follow the rule of not putting their fingers on the trigger until they intend to fire.

I carry one in the chamber, safety on on my right hip in the front or back.

PROOF that I'm not a completely useless poster:

That is not conducive to passionate cunnilingus, my friend, let me assure you.

Sure, but redundancy is always a good thing when it comes to safety.

Glock 23, full magazine, round chambered (otherwise it is an impact weapon), strong-side in either a Fobus with the paddle or a custom iwb leather gun-glove that I had made.

Ooooooooh! Custom leather gun glove. Aren't you special?

I'm instantly curious as to whether I should be jealous. Pics?

My Spring-Fall carry is my Glock 17, IWB, round chambered, 4:30. I have carried my G26, Kahr CW9, and a G19. I always go back to this for the time of year I stated.

My Winter carry is my Glock 21sf, OWB, 3:00, round chambered. I want to carry this year round, but it weighs to much to wear with shorts, and IWB is out of the question, as it is way to thick. I have considered going to a compact Glock in 45, but I like my high capacity.

I also agree that, pointing my firearm at any of my own vitals is never a good thing. I prefer to point it at the bad guys vitals instead. :)
