    Wing Chun can't stop failing

    • Wing Chun vs. "Muay Thai"

      FROM THE VIDEO UPLOADER:

In brief the story goes like this. The smaller stockier guy has been badmouthing all wing chun lineages proclaiming himself the number one italian exponent of William Cheung. and claims he ttrains 8 hours a day for the past 20 years.... he's been going on like this for about 3 years also claiming he had already defeated notable wing chun wing tsun ving tsun masters etc etc etc...
also he claimed he beat up and he could take on MMA fighters and in this case he claimed that the opponent he fought (if we would like to call it a fight) he would defeat him in 5 seconds with one hand...

More like Wing Chun vs MMA rather then straight up Muay Thai.

I asked a long time ago if WC could be salvaged. A lot of folks replied no. Taking that guy at his word that he trained 8 hours a day, I think his technique let him down.

I think the whole "it's the fighter not the style" has really messed up a lot of people's thinking. Obviously better athletes that train harder do better, the techniques still matter. To be successful, a style must work for many people. Otherwise it's a fluke. That's why the whole it's not the real chum is irrelevant.

No, it was modernization. Once hand to hand went downhill arts stopped dying out, being absorbed, or modified.

I thought of a term; "technical incest." It's a technique in an art that only works against techniques within that art. Fencing and freestyle wrestling has some. It comes with being point sports. I wonder how much chun technique is only meant to be applied with other chunners.
