What next for Josh Barnett after his Strikeforce HW Grand Prix final?

    UFC?
    Dream?

He's the last legit holder of the original linear UFC title, so I suspect they might give him an immediate shot at the HW belt.

I think it depends if he wins or loses. I doubt the UFC truly wants him, since he is such a liability. He destroyed Affliction. Comier should do well.

    How did Barnett destroy Affliction?

Barnett should be in the UFC. He's better than most of their guys at HW IMO.

As far as I recall from history class, Barnett vs Fedor was slated to be the HW matchup that would propel Affliction into the big leagues. When Barnett tested positive, the fight and the entire third Affliction event was off.

Affliction folded soon afterwards. Which is a tragedy, because Barnett vs Fedor is definitely unfinished business and had the potential to have been one of the greater HW fights in modern MMA. I'd still like to see it today.

Fedor Barnett would be a dream fight...even now.

Whatever happens, I'm happy to see either of them fight anybody. Poetry in motion.

If the other Pride alumni who have come over are reliable forecasters of future events, Josh will be brutalized by Frank Mir ( see Antonio Rodrigo N. and Mirko F.), and if his own past history is any indication, he will fail a roids test and get cut.

I'm not certain Mir would take Barnett. I personally think Barnett is a serious threat to anybody at HW. I'd never bet against him.
