    Bodybuilder vs. Karateka

    • The bodybuilder is Lance Bachelor, former Mr. Utah. He's best known for his challenge fight with Pedro Sauer.

The karateka is Yasunori Matsumoto. He had a 5-4-1 record in MMA. Twice he fought Pat Miletech, lasting seventeen minutes in their second encounter. The strategy he used in most of his fights seemed to involve getting thrown around by much larger opponents until they got tired, at which point he would lethargically pound them into submission.

Hey, I know that knees and uppercuts are things that sometimes happen in fights, so why not yell them in all circumstances? And its obvious to me that all this lame groundfighting could be solved by just punching him in the face, so why not tell the world?

Ok, I gave up at 6 mins.

    "Hit him, Lance! Hit him!"

    God's Teeth!

Why do Musclemen just ball themselves up and then rush you to the wall?? (It's happened to me in an SD class).

Why do Lance and his vocal supporter fail at basic anatomy? Lance should have been punishing his ribs once he got his opponent down by the wall mat.

Why was the karateka wearing Muay Thai style boxer short?

When will Chelsea FC win the European Cup? Now, this I really want to know the answer to...;-)

He's a Shidokan stylist. If I'm not mistaken, Shidokan competitions are separated into three rounds: Knockdown karate with a Gi, Muay Thai with shorts, and grappling.

    Pull his hair!!!

Is hair pulling the anti-grapple? Or was it the head-butting?

It's do or die time - they won't even be in it next season.

Cruiserweight boxer James Warring used hair-pulling to keep shootfighter Erik Paulson from grappling him in an early MMA event.

Headbutting is teh pro-grappling because it was a favorite tactic of wrestlers back in the day.

Wow, that was a surprisingly entertaining fight. This may be extremely naive but I'm always surprised to see this caliber of fighting pre-2000's. In my head I just built up this idea that people didn't know how to fight before ZUFFA made it popular.
