Depends what you call "real." I highly doubt it. I can't think of any serious exercise that utilizes THAT much momentum... Seems like a waste of time, and definitely looks like one.

Different range of movement and different executions of the same exericise are not what you see everyday, but it's not that much uncommon, depending on the sport you follow(e.g., shot putters doing funny stuff)

People focus on stamina, Olympic weight lifting, power lifting, weight lifting for boxing/MMA, etc...
Some focus on arm wrestling, where the RoM is short(often, with huge weights), but it specifically targets/mimics what they need to do when they're pulling.

I don't know the woman and if she's pulling or if she's doing a specific sport at all, but here's a video with Wagner Bartolato(a top arm wrestler), and his training in a commercial gym(sometimes he gets some funny looks from people who don't know who he is and're wondering what the heck he's doing) ...

It's a long but very good video of him. Look at 6:30 what he's doing(to get a small idea)
At 13:20 he's carrying the whole machine with him

P.S.: I don't want to sound like a smart ass, I'm sure many of you guys know many examples with "unorthodox" training; I simply wanted to point it out.
