China has too many fucking people. They are literally swarming in and out of the streets and bicycling in all eight directions at once; the cars and vans are merely trampling over them.

i never got over the sheer lack of empathy i used to see in beijing. there are some horrible stories about car accidents centring around the premise that it's better to kill someone you knock down or if you see an accident you don't get involved no matter what...

anyhow, if you have a strong stomach you can watch a beijing tv show on youku that airs everyday showing crashes. seriously though, it's quite shocking, especially when you consider the times it's shown during the day.
