Well they can give me a ticket for it. Just because something is not allowed in one arena doesn't mean it can't still be used in another.

This grip was widely used prior to 98ish and was one of my personal favorites. Now that I train people to grapple any where they can out a gi on it would be moronic of me to not teach a technique that was so effective in controlling someone they made a rule against using it.

Wow! Another quality move from Josh. This one is so easy, even I might be able to do it.

sorry, i guess that came off the wrong way. what i mean is: can i use that technique in judo, and if the pistol grip isn't allowed, what would you suggest as an alternate?

Just grip the sleeve and push down in the same manner. A regulation Judo gi will have enough slack in the the sleeve to actually bind up just as effective as a pistol grip.

I have read pistol grips are illegal in Judo as well, although I have not asked the instructor. I'm getting sick of all the **** I cannot do...

To be honest you won't be able to walk around with the pistol grip and their hand between their legs, because they're obviously a resisting human being.

So you can pistol grip shove the hand down and through the legs straight into the throw all in a blink of an eye and no part time local ref is going to notice.

Check out the Inoue Gill match from the Olympic finals. Inoue is gripping illegally with fingers inside the sleeve, but he does it all in one go with the throwing action so no one notices and it ends up on posters and highlight reels all across the world.

The only people who get pinged for illegal gripping are mongs who do it and just hold it without attacking or people who do it stupidly and blatantly right in front of a ref.
