Well tell him if he wants to spend time and money learning something that will get him killed in a scrap down Merseyside, then its perfect and he should sign up straight away.
How far away from this place is he?

This place has produced a bunch of GB squad members so might be worth a look:

It seems like true scousers most of them are too useless to set up their own website, they've probably nicked someone else's instead, no doubt you'll find it burn out down the rec in a few days time. -

Get him to give SKK a call 01925 226885 and ask where the nearest decent Judo club for adults is near St. Helens. They're one of the elite performance institutes, but they're completely focused on elite level kids and cadets, but they'll know where he can go to get good adult instruction nearby.
Falling that there must be a decent boxing gym somewhere around. -

Hi. I'm the friend in question and I'm having no luck. The local judo place started off teaching seniors but now it's all juniors. The local kung fu guy is learning it from a book, the main JJJ club nearby (not Shogun) has been discredited on here because the main guy is a fraud, the nearest MMA place is a 'McDojo' and the best places are a larger journey away than I can realistically see myself getting bothered with.
That said, I think I've found a boxing club. If they are any good it'll keep me going until a half-decent judo or BJJ club opens up nearby.
