how did it survive for so long?
OK so I searched around the site and found nothing so here it goes,
how did Chinese kung fu, silat ect ect go on for so long with out people calling bulls#$ on it, cause as Im told aren't these styles millions of years old?
if they obviously don't work what the hell where people doing back then for unarmed self defense?
I know this will probably get me banned to newbie town but I just had to ask, please feel free to redirect me to the thread or article that will answer my question. thanx:EWBTE2:
Yes, kungfu doesn't work ever:
When you finish with all of those videos, please let me know which competition you are entering.
Not all kung fu and silat were created equal. Somewhere there is a Kung Fu practitioner who develops his chi by running, lifting and sparring that can kick your ass.
People bullshit. People will go on bullshitting until the eschaton, and people will believe their bullshit. It's human nature.

Tom is Back and you might want to fix your style field.
“Teachers confuse the world, and lead the practitioners astray, all for the sake of fame and profit. I am much grieved by this situation, and it is exactly for this reason that I strive to set things right." Cheng Zongyou commenting on people pretending to have 'teh real Shaolin' in his 'Exposition of the Original Shaolin Staff Method' published 1610.
16th century Ming general Qi Jiguang condemned the 'flowery methods' that had crepped into Kung Fu and weakened it.
People called Bullshit on Bullshit from very early on.
1) Humans have been around for millions of years so there isn't any style that is that old.

3) Chinese MArtist, any MArtist for that matter, called BS all the time. There were fighters and their were "dancers" and you had many would call other out on that fact.
4) Martial Arts is always going to be around. As long as there is human nature someone is going want to put fist to face. So it will have a continuing presence in society. Not all styles are created equal and you will have BS around just as you do now.

You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo!
The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.
Isn't a lot of it a fairly modern response to Kung Fu movies (the emphasis on giant kicks and acrobatic movements, at least)? I thought that the older arts tended to be more reasonable. They're still not necessarily the best way of doing things, but it's easily better than being untrained.
Korea invented Kung Fu and the Chinese.
